“Better” is a claim every competitor also makes, in the same words, on a website that looks the same. Buyers can’t verify better from the outside — but they can see different instantly. Distinctiveness does the first job of marketing: it gets you noticed and remembered long enough to be considered.
Distinctive assets compound
A recognizable visual system, a voice that sounds like a person, a point of view you actually hold — these are assets that appreciate. Every impression makes the next one cheaper, because the audience does the remembering for you.
Different is not the opposite of effective. It is the precondition for it.
Different, with discipline
Being uncommon is not randomness. Every unusual choice should have a reason: to be noticed, to be remembered, or to be chosen. If a distinctive element doesn’t serve one of those three, it’s decoration — and decoration gets cut.
